Platform overview

Soxara is a payment platform built for Liberia. From your perspective as a developer, three things are worth knowing up front:

1. One API, multiple payment rails

Customers pay you in whichever way is easiest for them — and you don’t have to integrate each provider separately. Soxara’s API gives you one endpoint for all of:

  • Card payments (Visa, Mastercard) processed via Stripe
  • MTN Mobile Money (Liberia)
  • Orange Money (Liberia)
  • Soxara wallet — instant transfer from another Soxara user
  • Cash — via agent locations, when our agent network rolls out

You make one call to create a payment, and the customer picks how they pay.

2. Two interfaces, one brain

Your customers reach Soxara through:

  • WhatsApp — for users who don’t want to install another app. Native to how Liberians already chat.
  • The Soxara mobile app — full-featured wallet, card, send/receive, history.

Both surfaces are backed by the same data and the same AI assistant. A user who pays you on WhatsApp can later open the app and see the receipt in their transaction history.

3. Soxara is Liberia-focused, globally accessible

The platform serves Liberia. But:

  • A Liberian living in the US can fund their wallet with a US-issued card and send to family in Liberia.
  • A non-Liberian merchant integrating Soxara (e.g., a SaaS billing Liberian users) can accept payments from anywhere.

Card-funded deposits work globally — that’s just how Stripe works. The wallet itself, the recipient flows, and the regulatory posture are Liberia-first.

What’s not in this API

These exist as products inside Soxara, but they’re not exposed to integrators today:

  • KYC — handled internally between the customer and Soxara; you don’t initiate KYC flows from your platform.
  • Card issuance — Soxara issues virtual cards to its users; you can accept card payments but you don’t issue cards through this API.
  • Internal admin — merchant onboarding, fraud review, dispute handling have their own dashboards, not API endpoints.
